The weather has been scorching this summer in Raleigh, and this Labor Day weekend won’t be any different. I love strawberry lemonade, and I found a different spin on this traditional BBQ/picnic beverage.

Check out the recipe below for Farmers’ Lemonade from realsimple.com. Let us know in the comments below how the recipe goes if you make it! What is your favorite type of lemonade?

Ingredients

• 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 12 lemons)
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 6 cups water
• 1 16-ounce package fresh strawberries, stemmed and pureed
• 1 cup heavy cream
• lemon slices (to garnish)
• ice

Directions

Place the lemon juice, the sugar, and 1 cup water in a large pitcher. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then add 5 more cups water, the strawberries, the cream, a few slices of lemon to garnish, and plenty of ice.

I cannot WAIT to see “Takers” this weekend! This all-star cast is sure to be a blockbuster!

This movie stars Idris Elba, Paul Walker, Michael Ealy, Matt Dillon, Hayden Christensen and recording artists Chris Brown and Clifford “T.I” Harris. It is an exciting heist thriller that has been compared to “Ocean’s 11.” Producer Will Packer Harris has been involved with such movies as “Obesessed” and “Stomp the Yard.” I’m sure it will be a great movie with lots of action! Check it out at Regal Brier Creek Stadium 14 this weekend and get a free small popcorn as well!

Country lovers get excited!

The dynamic country singer Brad Paisley will be performing this Saturday, August 28th at the Time Warner Cable Pavilion at Walnut Creek. His H2O World Tour makes a stop in Raleigh with opening acts Darius Rucker and Justin Moore, starting at 4pm.

His website describes him as, “A triple threat recognized as one of the finest singers, songwriters, and guitar slingers of his generation, he brings a wide spectrum of subjects and styles to records as diverse and accomplished as anything being done today, and he manages it all with true wit and distinctive style.”

Oberlin-Court, have you ever had a stressful day at work? Well hopefully not as stressed as these guys! Enjoy the laughs and have a relaxing weekend!

Oberlin Court’s annual pool party is this Saturday and I hope everyone is aware of the current pool rules. If not, they are listed below. These rules are in place to keep up the safety of you and your neighbors, so please abide by them!

REMEMBER: It is an 80’s themed party!! Check out the video below for some inspiration!! See you at the pool party! 

• Persons under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult at all time
• One guest per apartment
• Resident must accompany guests at all times
• No glass containers allowed in pool area
• No loud radios, running or horseplay in or around the pool
• No pets allowed in pool area
• Proper swim attire must be worn in pool

Last week I told you about Carova Beach being a great in-state getaway. Well here’s another fun summer trip that you might want to consider: Lake Norman on one of Kings Point Marina’s pontoon boat rentals!! Grab your friends and family and have an intimate boat party, make it a daytime fishing trip, or just have a great swimming day at the lake! Summer is almost over, so we have to take time for us, right?! A day at the lake would be a relaxing time for the family before the kiddos go back to school.

To rent a pontoon boat at Kings Point Marina, you will need at least 9 other family/friends and $225. That’s LESS than $25 per person! Sounds like a great deal to me! Maybe I’ll throw a little nighttime boat party to cap off  all the summer fun that’s been had…
